
Why we use explosion-proof quartz in your bathroom heaters
Think about your bathroom. It’s a place of extremes. One minute it’s freezing cold, and the next, you’ve got a cloud of steam and a splash of cold water hitting everything. If you use a heater with standard glass, you’re asking for trouble. Imagine a filament glowing at 600°C. Now imagine a stray drop of cold water hitting that glass. Crack. That’s why we use specialized quartz. It handles the shock Quartz glass is a bit of a miracle material because it barely moves. When the temperature spikes or drops, the glass doesn’t really expand or shrink. In a bathroom, that’s the difference between a cozy morning and a mess of shattered glass on your floor. We make sure these tubes can take a sudden chill without giving up. What “explosion-proof” actually means here When we say “explosion-proof,” we aren’t talking about bombs or dangerous gases. It’s simpler than that. We’re talking about keeping the tube from bursting under pressure. We strip out the impurities that create weak spots in the glass. Then, we seal the ends with heavy-duty, high-temp adhesives and reinforced crimping. Why bother? Because if that seal leaks, the gas inside escapes and your filament burns out in a heartbeat. It’s all about making sure the lamp actually lasts. A few things to keep in mind These heaters are great because they give you instant heat. They don’t waste time warming up the air in the room; they warm you directly. It feels amazing when you step out of the shower. But, a word of caution: that glass gets incredibly hot.**Don’t touch it.**Make sure you have a proper guard installed so nobody gets burned. Also, take a look at your wiring. If your voltage is jumping all over the place, your filament is going to die a lot sooner than it should. And please, check your breaker. If you’re installing a bank of four 600W lamps, that’s a lot of power. Make sure your wiring gauge can handle the load, or you might find your junction box getting way too hot for comfort.
