We do things differently. Our infrared (IR) lamps are designed to hit the score line exactly where it needs it. No more heating the air around the glass. Just precise, targeted heat.
The Nerd Stuff: Why Shortwave Works
We stick with shortwave IR emitters for a simple reason: they’re faster. Shortwave radiation punches through the glass surface way quicker than medium or longwave options. It means you hit your target temperature in a fraction of the time. When we’re picking out lamps for your setup, we look closely at the wattage-to-length ratio. High wattage density is the goal here. It lets us keep the footprint small on your machine while packing in more BTUs per inch. **One heads-up, though.**These high-density tubes get seriously hot. You’ve got to keep your reflectors spotless and make sure your cooling fans are aimed just right. If you don’t, those lamp housings can warp under the pressure.
Built to Last (and Not Burn Out)
We use high-purity quartz envelopes because they can handle the shock of rapid heating and cooling without cracking. We also pair them with precision connectors—usually R7s or SK15. Why? Because a loose connection is a nightmare. It leads to arcing, and before you know it, your lamp is burnt out. Inside the tube, there’s a halogen cycle that stops the filament from evaporating too fast. It keeps the lamp alive even when you’re pushing it to the limit. And if your glass is extra thick and needs deeper penetration, we can coat the lamps to shift the spectral output.
What This Actually Means for Your Shop
The bottom line? You’ll see your kWh per ton drop. It’s a simple swap. You pull out those old, clunky resistive heaters and drop these in.
