Getting into the details
These heaters are made for real-world industrial voltages, usually 230V or 400V, and they come in power levels that match the job. For many standard sizes, that means 1500W to 2500W. The tube stays short—often around 300mm—so the energy stays concentrated. That means you get a lot of heat in a small footprint, without having to rework your whole machine setup.
What it’s made of
Inside, you’ve got a quartz tube filled with halogen gas. That halogen chemistry is what keeps the filament stable, even when it’s running hot. So you get consistent output over time, and it handles repeated on/off cycles without suddenly burning out. The R7s connector makes wiring simple. It’s a two-ended ceramic base that locks in fast, with no polarity headaches. And the quartz tube is often coated to control how it emits heat, so the target warms evenly instead of getting scorched in one spot.
Where it shines—and what to keep in mind
These heaters are perfect when you need heat fast and want a clean, plug-in replacement. You’ll see them on packaging equipment, plastic welding stations, and small drying tunnels. On the shop floor, that plug-in design cuts installation time down to almost nothing. Here’s the trade-off, though: because it packs so much heat into a small space, it needs proper airflow and a little thermal care around it. Otherwise, nearby components and wiring can run hotter than you’d expect.
